Balance and Design Changes
I did a pass on mission balance that affects some demo missions. The goal was to make it so fewer missions reward the unintuitive play pattern of skipping early turns.
A number of missions now have immediate attacks that can be fended off with 1-2 early cards. These attacks will deal small to moderate damage to your flagship if you don’t do anything to address them.
I tried to make the affected missions easier in other ways, as I’m still trying to raise win rates a bit. And some unrelated missions were made easier too, in pursuit of the same goal.
The Triple Cruiser mission has a new mechanic where the frontmost Cruiser attacks if you end turn without playing any cards.
Repair Drones now costs 25k (down from 75k).
Escorted Politician starts with 35k (up from 15k).
Master Tactician starts with 15k (up from 5k).
Shield Overcharge no longer affects your energy income (instead of setting it to 1).
Shield Overcharge now doubles shields (instead of tripling them).
Hunter Missile range buff is reduced to 1.8 (down from 2.0).
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Fixed some animation issues for cards that stay in hand after being played.
Fixed a bug caused by Escorted Politician (and Traits with starting units in general) that could cause other mission setup effects to happen a frame later than normal, or not happen at all. This prevented the Static Response mission in particular from removing unit cards from your deck.
